A day at the lake

If you ever happen to be on holiday in Orvieto, remember to visit  Bolsena Lake .I love this place it’s very clean and not  built up. My favorite part is under Gradoli village ,there, unlike in many places in Italy, you can still find large areas where there are  no ombrelloni and no sun beds, only grass and nature. There are also a couple of  restaurants on the lakeside where the atmosphere is great. So if you do happen to visit this area  the best thing to eat is Coregone ( a freshwater Whitefish from the salmon and trout family). This is a fish that is freshly caught in the Lake , has few bones and a delicious texture. It is usually cooked in a very simple way ,grilled. The secret is to use wild fennel, this fresh herb creates a harmony, so good that you will lick your fingers at the end of the meal.

Lake Bolsena

I went to Bolsena a few days ago for a coffee in the small harbor, whilst there I bought three Coregoni of course … ….and  I guess I’ll be back soon to buy more, they were delicious.

Ingredients
3 Coregoni
EVO oil
Salt pepper
Wild Fennel
2 cloves garlic
How it works:
Clean and open the Coregoni(Whitefish), sprinkle on top evo oil , salt pepper, garlic and a handful of wild fennel. Grill or bbq.
